![]() International Game Day, NovemberPartnering with the University of Baltimore’s (UB) Simulation and Digital Entertainment Program’s Director, games developed by her students were displayed around Priddy Library. UB’s librarian Mike Kiel brought legacy game controllers (Wii/Nintendo/Atari) for students to play with and understand their evolution. As part of the event the Library initiated a toy drive and students donated the collected items to a Children’s hospital. Utilizing informative posters designed by students, and a live video display of real-time cyber-attacks around the globe, awareness of the new program and its impact drew the attention of numerous students and prompted many questions and on-the-spot discussions. ![]() Women’s History Month, MarchPaying tribute to the generations of women who were committed to change and fought to provide us with a better society, a book exhibit was displayed. For several weeks provocative questions were posted on the Open Wall for students to discuss what women’s history means to them. [Eileen Harrington and Irene Münster] | ![]() Evolution Revolution, MarchThe Library hosted an interactive exhibit that included a timeline of the history of Earth on the floor, 3-D printed skulls of a human and human ancestors, and examples of evolution in action today. A panel discussion with Dr. Andrew Nolan (UMBC), Dr. Daniel Levin (UMD) and Eileen Harrington that explored how the theory of evolution changed the way we view our world and our place in it, complemented the exhibit. ![]() Communications Photo Exhibit, MarchStudents from Professor Coleman’s Communications 398N class, University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), utilizing several instructed techniques, took photos which were displayed in the library. [Stacey Grijalva & Nickolas Falk] | ![]() Gaithersburg Book Festival, MayMultilingual storytelling time: The Priddy Library hosted a tent where USG students read books in Spanish, French, Farsi, Korean, Vietnamese and Hindi to children attending the Festival. This was the first time a multicultural event like this took place at the Gaithersburg Book Festival. [Irene Münster] |
