Living Diversity Photo Exhibit by Lloyd Wolf
Containing images from photographer Lloyd Wolf’s book “Living Diversity: The Columbia Pike Documentary Project”, this exhibit depicted historical, artistic, demographic, and cultural trends in this unique community.
Photo Workshop by Lloyd Wolf
Taught by guest artist, Lloyd Wolf, this workshop was open to student, staff and faculty beginning and intermediate photographers with the goal to help individuals feel more confident in creating interesting and well-made photographs from their own lives and experiences while highlighting the theme of cultural diversity. Gangs: A Regional Perspective
In partnership with the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) Criminology and Criminal Justice Program at USG, the Library hosted an awareness-raising discussion led by Mary Beth Ayers, Felony Prosecution Team Chief, State’s Attorney’s Office; Chad Garnes, Detective Sergeant, Criminal Street Gang Unit; and Dennis Mondoro, Senior Policy Advisor, OJJDP.

The Other Photo Contest
The contest focused on how diversity pertained (effect or affect, relationship or connection) to Universities at Shady Grove. Students, staff and faculty all participated in the contest which highlighted the diversity found on our campus. [Nickolas Falk]
Communication Students Exhibit
Students from Professor Coleman’s Communication 398N class, UMD, utilizing several instructed techniques, took photos, which were displayed in the library. This exhibit was presented as part of a continuing series with the Communication program at USG. [Nickolas Falk]

Bosnian Genocide
Students from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and the Priddy Library staff presented a curated exhibit on the Bosnian Genocide (1992-1995). This exhibit was presented as part of the Genocides of the 20th century series. [Nickolas Falk, Irene Münster, Leah Rufus]
International Game Day
The International Games Day Celebration took place Thursday, November 19, 2015 with a series of hands-on events and presentations. There were opportunities to engage in virtual reality, interactive video games and speakers such as game developer Jesse Schermir and the editor of Baltimore Gamer. The day included a legacy game display and showing of the film, Gaming in Color. Student and staff of the Simulation and Gaming Program at USG assisted the library staff in organizing the event. Nursing Posters
Research posters created by students in the University of Maryland, Baltimore Nursing Program at USG were on display in the Library in December. The posters shared work they had done in clinical settings or as part of their coursework, focusing on a variety of topics including bedside interactions, the effectiveness of mindful meditation on reducing stress among cancer patients, and postoperative pediatric pain care.
Storyboards in the Library

Women in Science
In honor of Women’s History Month, this exhibit highlighted the achievements of women in various fields of science and technology. From the 17th century with Maria Sibylla Merian, often considered one of the first entomologists, to Mae Jemison who was the first African American woman in space in 1992, women have long made their mark in scientific endeavors. Zika Virus
An exhibit and panel discussion on the epidemiology, virology, transmission and prevention of the Zika virus. The panel included Debra Aplan, Montgomery County Office of Disease Control and Immunization; Dr. Gretchen DeSilva, UMD Public Health Sciences; Dr. Earl Stoddard, Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and Dr. Jessica O’Hara, UMD Public Health Sciences. African Americans in Montgomery County 1868 - Present
This exhibit done by UMBC History 411 students provided a brief snapshot of the ties between African Americans their schools, churches and cemeteries. By highlighting one case study, The Pleasant View Historical Site in Quince Orchard, Maryland, it explored how communities met educational, religious and social needs, ultimately creating an inspirational legacy. Morocco
The Priddy Library in partnership with the UMBC Political Science Student Organization organized a fundraising event to help the Achrahil Community Association, in Morocco, build their first library. Allen McConeghey, one of our former students, who served as a Peace Corps worker in Morocco for the past three years was this project's mentor. [Nickolas Falk, Irene Münster]

Keep Calm & Color
A collaboration between the Priddy Library and the Center for Academic Success. This event was used to encourage students to come in to the library and use the coloring station set up as a way to de-stress during finals week. [Rachel Carstens, Nickolas Falk]
USG History Exhibit
This exhibit was created by a University of Maryland, College Park Communication student to show the evolution of USG in celebration of the 15th graduating class from programs offered on campus.
