STRATEGIC PLAN
In fall 2018, the library began the process of creating its first strategic plan. It convened a strategic planning committee consisting of the entire library staff and ex officio members from The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) Libraries and the University System of Maryland & Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) library consortium leadership; USG partner institutions; USG service centers; and USG student governance organizations. We collected feedback from library stakeholders through individual interviews, focus groups and surveys and conducted an environmental scan of trends in higher education and academic libraries to help inform the development of our plan. This four-year plan will guide our activities and budgetary decisions for the next four years beginning in fall 2019.
DATA GATHERING
We are continuing to collect as much data and information as we can to assess and improve our library services and spaces. Library staff record information in Springshare’s LibInsights platform, which allows us to analyze and visualize trends through both private analytics functions and public dashboards. This data informed the library’s strategic planning process in FY2019.
